Volunteer with AARP Wisconsin!

AARP is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization that empowers people to choose how they live as they age. We serve our nearly 800,000 members in Wisconsin with community outreach programs, fraud prevention education, legislative advocacy, and more.

We are always looking for volunteers who want to share their skills, talents, and passion to make their community, and Wisconsin, a better place.

Advocacy
Our volunteer advocates work with local, state, and federal representatives to advance key issues to people aged 50+. Our legislative priorities cover financial resilience, health security, and making communities livable and accessible for everyone.

Possible activities include:
- Meeting with, emailing, and/or calling legislators to discuss priorities
- Participating in regular virtual meetings with the volunteer team
- Visiting the Wisconsin capitol to rally policy makers during lobby days
- Representing AARP Wisconsin at fairs, exhibits, and expos
- Sharing your story with policy makers, news outlets, fellow advocates, and partner organizations
Training and materials are provided and mileage is reimbursed when travel is required.

Community Outreach - Available only in La Crosse, Madison, and Milwaukee area
Volunteers work together with local residents, community leaders, and organizations to host events, support community projects, and share information and resources on AARP issues and priorities. Whether you like to be on stage or behind the scenes, there are various ways to get involved.

Possible activities include:
- Providing on-site event support
- Hosting or planning local engagement opportunities
- Handing out resources at expos and exhibits while engaging with community members
- Presenting to local groups and organizations
Training and materials are provided and mileage is reimbursed when travel is required.

Fraud Prevention
Scammers steal billions of dollars from Americans every year. Our fraud fighters are passionate about helping others learn how to spot and avoid scams & fraud.

Possible activities include:
- Sharing information with staff and volunteers about scams & fraud in your community
- Providing on site event support
- Representing the AARP Fraud Watch Network at events like resource fairs, exhibits, and expos
- Speaking to local groups about common scams (in person or virtually)
- Hosting or planning events in your community
Training and materials are provided and mileage is reimbursed when travel is required.

Speakers Bureau
If you enjoy speaking in front of others, our Speakers Bureau is great for you! We provide training and slide decks for topics like brain health, downsizing & decluttering, and more!

Possible activities include:
- Speaking in person or virtually to groups around Wisconsin about various topics
Training and materials are provided and mileage is reimbursed when travel is required.
