Montgomery – While in-person music events are mostly on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AARP Alabama is working with Alabama singer-songwriters to bring their music to your homes beginning on August 6 at 7:00 p.m. on the AARP Alabama Facebook page.
“Alabama has such a rich music tradition and we thought this would be a great way to celebrate some of the wonderful talent in our state while we’re in this time of social distancing,” said AARP Alabama Associate State Director, Anne Hails. “Getting to see and hear these great musicians performing their own original music from their homes to ours is like having your own personal concert.”
The live music series will run weekly on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. CDT. The current line-up of artists and performance dates is as follows:
August 6: Gregg Fells
August 13: J. Willoughby
August 20: Janet McLaughlin
August 27: Roman Street
September 3: Dave Crenshaw
September 10: Van Hollingsworth
September 17: Robert Abernathy
September 24: Sean Heninger
October 1: Taylor Hollingsworth
October 8: Mel Knapp
October 22: Barbara Harrington & Jennifer Hartsell
Added Hails: “These artists represent the great variety of musical styles and traditions in our state, and we think we’ll have something that people of all ages and musical tastes can enjoy.”
