AARP Alabama Appoints Jenny Jensen as Associate State Director for Outreach

Montgomery, Ala. — AARP Alabama is pleased to announce Jenny Jensen as the new Associate State Director for Outreach. In this role, Jensen will lead community engagement initiatives across Birmingham, Huntsville, and all of North Alabama, working closely with volunteers and partner organizations to advance AARP’s mission of empowering people aged 50 and older.

Jensen brings more than 19 years of experience in volunteer recruitment and human resources. She began her AARP career in 2016 with AARP Georgia as a Senior Program Assistant and was promoted in 2019 to Senior Program Specialist, where she oversaw volunteer management and training, program implementation, and advocacy across 39 volunteer-led chapters throughout the state.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jenny to the AARP Alabama team,” said Candi Williams, AARP Alabama State Director. “Her deep experience in volunteer engagement and her passion for inclusive leadership will be invaluable as we continue building strong community connections across North Alabama.”

Jensen holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and a master’s in public history from North Carolina State University. She is a Certified Event Planner through Emory University and a 2022 alum of the Center for Asian Pacific American Women’s Leadership Institute (APAWLI), where she earned a certificate in Whole Person Leadership.

A biracial Asian American and proud Third Culture Kid, Jensen was born and raised overseas. She currently chairs the AARP Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Employee Resource Group and enjoys traveling the world with her husband.
