Calling all quilters!

Pine Burr quilt detail
Detail of the Pine Burr Quilt made by Loretta Pettway Bennett

The 65+ Heritage Quilters of Tallassee have issued a Call for Quilts to be displayed at their 4th Annual Quilt show. The show will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on June 10 and from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on June 11, 2016.

This year, quilters are asked to consider making a special quilt using the Official State of Alabama Quilt, the Pine Burr. Any size is acceptable. There will also be a workshop at the Quilt Show for people who would like to learn to make the Pine Burr Quilt. The group is also encouraging people to display quilts that they have. Both antique quilts and new quilts will be shown, and anyone with a special collection to display is encouraged to display it.

Please note that all quilts will be required to have identification permanently affixed to them and will need to have an entry form included. They will also be required to include information on who made the quilt, when it was made, and the pattern and fabrics, if known. A hanging sleeve is encouraged, but not required. Quilts may be brought to the Tallassee City Hall Mayor's Office from June 6 - 9, 2016 between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM each day. For more information about the show and entry forms, contact Marilyn Durham at 334-252-0883, or email mhdurham@hotmail.com.
