The 2025 Colorado legislative session has concluded, and AARP Colorado’s nonpartisan advocacy efforts helped achieve several significant victories for older Coloradans. This year’s legislative advocacy focused on four key areas: financial security, housing, fraud prevention and health care. Additionally, AARP advocates worked to mitigate a budget shortfall’s impact on older Coloradans.
Here are some of the legislative gains that AARP Colorado helped achieve this session, through advocacy, lobbying, and coalition efforts:
- Created fraud warnings and implemented reasonable, commonsense protections for crypto-currency ATMs.
- Increased price transparency to stop hidden “junk” fees for Coloradans who rent their homes.
- Supported family caregivers through a stream-lined Medicaid Redetermination process.
- Improved coordination during emergencies for paratransit riders.
- Expanded accessibility in building code standards.
AARP Colorado volunteers and staff were ever-present at the Capitol, fighting hard on the issues that are important to our nearly 670,000 members, as well as all older Coloradans and their families.
