Residents of the First State are facing a staggering 19,000-unit affordable housing shortage with no end in sight.

Starting May 14, AARP Delaware is launching Countdown to 90 Years—a recognition and call to action leading up to the 90th anniversary of Social Security on August 14, 2025. For nine decades, Social Security has been a stable and reliable foundation of retirement security for millions of Americans—and we believe it must remain that way for generations to come.
AARP Delaware is a proud sponsor of the fifth annual Millennial Summit. set to broadcast live nationally and globally from August 2-4. This three day digital summit will bring together hundreds of attendees and is aimed to improve young professional’s skills and career. Two new bills that passed the legislature in June of 2021 fit right in with AARP’s mission of ensuring Delawareans have more choice as to how they want to age. The bills give more authority to Advanced Practice Nurses (APRN’s) so they can offer more immediate care to those who need it.

AARP Delaware is working to help First Staters cast ballots more easily.
A recent AARP survey of Delawareans age 45 and older revealed that 92 percent of those who responded are worried about having enough savings to retire. AARP learned that 68% of Delawareans think it’s important to have a way to save for retirement through the workplace. That’s why AARP supports House Bill 205, DE EARNS. This state-facilitated savings opportunity makes it easier for workers to save for the future, right out of their paychecks. AARP believes people should age with dignity and independence, and DE EARNS will help make that possible for all.
AARP Delaware has remained hard at work on behalf of older adults in the First State, advocating for family caregivers, fighting fraud and holding events like virtual movie nights.
