The Executive Council and Volunteer Leader Ends Her Leadership Role After Two Terms
The annual Andrus Award for Community Service is AARP's most prestigious and visible volunteer award. It recognizes individuals who are sharing their experience, talent and skills to enrich their communities in ways that are consistent with AARP's purpose, vision, and commitment to volunteer service, and that inspire others to volunteer.
Metro Atlanta volunteers met Saturday to discuss initiatives and programs for the upcoming months. We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated group to help us serve our communities. You all rock!
Atlanta native Mrs. Dorothy Spencer-Amey is a perfect example of #DisruptAging. At 89 years young, she has had a full life with plans of a full future. From AARP president to civil rights activist, Mrs. Spencer-Amey continues to be an embodiment of “To serve, not to be served,” the mantra of AARP’s founder, Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus.

Our AARP Georgia volunteers did a wonderful job of engaging with new and current AARP members and the other visitors to our booth. From assisting with the prize wheel, photo booth and spin art, it was easy to see that fun was had by all. Thank you, Volunteers, for all you do. We appreciate you.
