On Feb. 6, AARP Georgia volunteers and Associate State Director Jil Hinds, attended the first exhibition of the Georgia’s Great African Americans History Exhibit Tour at the Harriet G. Darnell Center. More than 100 seniors visited the first exhibition.

The Great African Americans History Exhibit travels to a selection of seniors centers in the metro Atlanta area. The exhibition shows the journey of a group of African American Georgians who have made significant contributions to Georgia. The tour will go on for the entire month of February, visiting Harriet G. Darnell Center, Palmetto Senior Center, Helene Millis Senior Center, and Frank Bailey Senior Center.

The exhibit features men and women from Georgia who made contributions in politics, science, medicine, the arts, civil rights, literature, sports, and the military.

AARP Georgia volunteers, Diana Johnson, Rochelle Garrett, and Herbert Maxwell assisted with the setup.
