AARP Georgia Seeks 2025 Andrus Award for Community Service Nominees

AARP Georgia is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Andrus Award for Community Service, the organization’s most prestigious volunteer tribute. This annual award honors outstanding Georgians age 50 and older who share their experience, skills, and time to enrich the lives of others in their communities.

“AARP Georgia is excited to shine a light on 50+ Georgians who are using what they’ve learned in life to make a difference in the lives around them,” said Jenny Jensen, Senior Program Specialist.

Nominees will be evaluated by the AARP Georgia State Office based on how their volunteer work has improved the community, reflected AARP’s mission and vision, and inspired others to serve/ The 2025 award recipient will be announced in the fall.

Nomination Criteria:
Nominees must meet the following requirements:
• Be aged 50 or older.
• Volunteer service must be unpaid (small stipends to cover volunteer-related costs are acceptable).
• Volunteer efforts should reflect AARP’s vision and purpose.
• Service should be replicable and inspire others to volunteer.
• Political or partisan activities are not eligible.
• Couples or partners who volunteer together may be nominated; teams are not eligible.
• Previous Andrus Award recipients, AARP staff, and current selection committee members are not eligible.
• This is not a posthumous award.

Named after AARP founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, the Andrus Award for Community Service is presented annually in every state to honor individuals whose volunteerism has made a unique and impactful contribution to society. In 2024, AARP recognized 49 individuals and couples nationwide for their extraordinary community service.
