Learn About Caregiving Resources at Caregiver Wednesday Webinars

AARP Hawai‘i is offering free Caregiver Wednesday webinars to provide valuable information and resources for caregivers on Zoom every Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Some of the webinars will also be simulcast on the AARP Hawai`i Facebook page.

Participants should download the free Zoom Meeting app ahead of the meeting. For those unfamiliar with Zoom, a free technology check-in sessions will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Register for a link to the Zoom Check-in at aarp.cvent.com/techcheck2000.

The AARP Caregiver Wednesday workshops run through January 27 at 4 p.m. every Wednesday. To find out more about the Caregiver Wednesday webinars go to aarp.cvent.com/care20-21. The next session at 4 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 25 will cover what caregivers should know about Social Security.

“There are an estimated 157,000 family caregivers in Hawai`i,” said Keali‘i Lopez, AARP Hawai‘i regional director. “We want them to know that they are not alone and that there are services available to help them.”

AARP Hawai‘i and Neighbor Island county elder service centers are offering a free virtual workshops to let caregivers and kupuna know about services available on Hawai`i island, Maui County and Kauai. It’s part of AARP Hawai`i’s free Caregiver Wednesday webinars to help kupuna and caregivers statewide.

The Neighbor Island workshops will be on Wednesday, November 18 at 9 a.m. for Kauai County, 10:30 a.m. for Maui County and 1:30 p.m. for Hawai`i island. The workshops will help caregivers and older residents learn about resources and government services available in each county to help with caregiving and COVID-19 relief. Learn how to access Meals on Wheels, transportation, case management, adult day care, home care and more at the free webinars. The session at 4 p.m. on Nov. 18 is about Medicare for Caregivers, followed by a Wednesday Nov. 25 webinar on what caregivers should know about Social Security.
