AARP Eye Center

This year marks the 90th anniversary of Social Security— a cornerstone of financial security in America. For nine decades, it has kept hundreds of millions of Americans out of poverty and given families across the country peace of mind and dignity in retirement.
At AARP, we’re honoring this milestone by celebrating the success of Social Security as a lifeline to millions of Americans. We’re also doubling down on what we’ve done for more than 60 years: fighting to protect and strengthen the Social Security Americans have earned through a lifetime of hard work.
We want to hear from you! Tell us your Social Security story through an easy to use video/audio website. There's nothing to download or install and you can share your story and make your voice heard.
- Do you have a personal experience with trying to get answers from the people at Social Security—whether it’s on the phone, in-person at an office, or online?
- If politicians don’t take action to protect and save Social Security in the next 10 years, your Social Security income could be cut by 20 percent – that’s $4,000 a year for the average person. How would this impact you?
- If you had all of Congress’ attention right now—if they were sitting across from you and listening eagerly—what would you tell them about what Social Security means for your future? What do they need to understand?
- Why is it critical that Social Security MUST be protected?

This 90th Anniversary isn’t just a celebration – it’s a time for reflection and to look towards the future. Right now, Social Security is still doing what it was built to do. It’s up to us to make sure it’s there for the next 90 years--because AARP will never stop fighting to protect and strengthen the Social Security we’ve earned.
