AARP Idaho Donates $10,000 to Help Those in Need

Boise Rescue Mission and Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho each receive $5,000

Even during the best of times, local organizations with a mission of addressing social isolation, homelessness and food insecurity need community assistance. Unfortunately, the current pandemic has stressed their resources while elevating the importance they play in the lives of Idahoans. Two such organizations, Boise Rescue Mission Ministries and the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho, will receive $5,000 each from the Idaho office of AARP to help continue their valuable work in the Treasure Valley.

“Idahoans are immensely proud of their state and take care of one another during times of need,” said Lupe Wissel, AARP Idaho state director. “This is a great example of that approach and as an association we are privileged to play a small role in helping these organizations get through a difficult time.”

Boise Rescue Mission Ministries provides food, shelter, clothing and opportunities to recover from homelessness for men, women and children in need while restoring the lives of dozens of chronically homeless veterans across Ada and Canyon Counties.

The Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho brings people together by providing educational programs, business training and support while celebrating Hispanic/Latino cultural values and traditions.

This donation will make a great difference in the lives of men and women in our community, providing them with food, safe shelter, counseling, and support, while helping them transition from homelessness to independence.”
