Leading Identity Theft Expert Frank Abagnale Comes to Boise

For over four decades, Frank W. Abagnale has advised the FBI on how to outsmart con artists and now he’s coming to Boise. As one of the world’s most respected authorities on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents, Abagnale has joined forces with AARP Idaho and the AARP Fraud Watch Network. Abagnale's visit to the Treasure Valley is just part of an ongoing committment to fighting fraud and identity theft in Idaho. Join us for several fun events in July and learn ways to keep you and your family safe from fraud and idenity theft.

This Oscar-nominated movie, looks at the life of Frank Abagnale, Jr. In his early years Abagnale (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) successfully impersonated a doctor, a lawyer, and a co-pilot for a major airline — all before his 18th birthday. He was also a brilliant forger, whose skill gave him his first real claim to fame. FBI Agent Carl Hanratty (played by Tom Hanks) makes it his mission to capture Frank and bring him to justice. (Rated PG-13 for some sexual content and brief language.)

In case you didn’t read the best-selling book…spoiler alert…he got caught and his exploits were depicted in the movie Catch Me If You Can starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Today, Abagnale is an expert on the subject of identity theft, has written three books on the subject and served as a consultant to some of the largest companies in the world on the subject of cybercrime. Join AARP Idaho for a presentation by Frank W. Abagnale on protecting yourself and your family from identity theft. The event is free. His advice is invaluable.
