AARP Idaho and the Idaho State Tax Commission are working to let people know about the state’s property tax reduction program.
Qualified lower-income residents who are 65 and older can have the property taxes on their homes (including up to one acre of their land) reduced by up to $1,500. But not everyone who is eligible for the program has applied for it.
Among the requirements is a 2024 total income of $37,810 or less (whether single or married), after deducting medical expenses. For more information, Idahoans can call any county assessor’s office, or the commission at 800-334-7756, or they can visit aarp.org/id.
