AARP Eye Center
AARP Idaho has been at the Idaho Capitol this week supporting some great measures to help the 50+.
We testified in the Senate Transportation Committee on Thursday in favor of Senate Bill 1121 which creates a funding mechanism for future distribution to the Safe Routes to School Healthy Kids Program from potential state or other funding that will be deposited in the fund created by the State Treasury and distributed by the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council. This is a great start towards our goal of creating age friendly communities throughout Idaho. It was passed by the committee and sent to the floor yesterday. https://legislature.idaho.gov/sessioninfo/2017/legislation/S1121/
We also testified in support of Senate 1058 which supports the Idaho Telehealth Access Act and allows for the cost of telehealth services to be covered in the same manner and to the same extent as if the services were delivered in person. It was sent to the 14th order for amending. https://legislature.idaho.gov/sessioninfo/2017/legislation/S1058/
Our resolution, HCR 3, which offers support of the Idaho Lifespan Family Caregiving Action Plan, was officially adopted. We want to thank all of our legislators for their support for family caregivers. https://legislature.idaho.gov/sessioninfo/2017/legislation/HCR003/
We were pleased H 191 passed the House. This legislation allows the Board of Pharmacy to promulgate rule to allow prescribing authority for pharmacists for certain drugs and drug classes. This will allow a consumer to go to their local pharmacist to get a prescription for certain drugs without going to a physician first. We wrote letters and testified in support of this legislation last week. It will be heard before the Senate Health and Welfare next week. https://legislature.idaho.gov/sessioninfo/2017/legislation/H0191/
We look forward to seeing you down at the Capitol. You can check out all we are doing at AARP Idaho on Facebook and Twitter.
Go out and celebrate our great state. March 4th is Idaho Day!!
