"Park for a Day" Coming to Kuna

Community Challenge graphic

Thanks in part to a grant from AARP, downtown Kuna will be popping on Saturday, October 21 when the Bernie Fisher Parking Lot becomes the site of Park for a Day, a “pop-up plaza” with live entertainment, food, booths and other activities for people of all ages. The project goal is to help the community visualize a future for the parking lot, and how best to redesign it to improve its function as a parking lot and also as a catalyst for revitalizing downtown and connect city parks, the greenbelt and Main Street. The project will gather public input using outreach tactics to help spark new ideas, such as temporary street narrowing, pedestrian crossings and landscapes and visioning tools like maps and drawings.

Park for a Day runs from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the parking lot on 2 nd Street; the event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

Check out the event’s social media links for updates on music and other activities as the schedule evolves. Kuna’s Facebook event page is here.

The Park for a Day project is presented by Idaho Smart Growth in collaboration with the city of Kuna and community partners, and support from an AARP Community Challenge Grant. The Kuna pop-up is among 88 projects selected, and the only one in Idaho. More information on the AARP grant program is here; more on the Kuna project is in AARP Idaho’s video interview here.
