Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope

Join us in September as we recognize the contributions of Hispanic Americans to Idaho while celebrating Hispanic culture and heritage.

Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) may be more than a month away, but we’re starting the celebrations early and getting you ready by watching the complimentary movie Coco. Then have some fun with your friends and family while learning how to make decorative sugar skulls. Make sure to watch Coco first to get some inspiration for your sugar skull designs!

All of this activity may make you thirsty so join us as we demonstrate how to prepare Aguas Frescas (fresh waters). This refreshingly delicious and healthy beverage is originally from Mexico and something you’re sure to enjoy for years to come.

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in this year of heightened awareness around equality and social justice, we are reminded of how positive change happens only when someone decides to lead. Hear from Latino leaders as they share stories of esperanza (hope) and how they overcame obstacles to achieve success. These are stories of encouragement every generation will enjoy.

From movies, to food, fun and inspiration…It’s a month-long calendar of entertainment you won’t want to miss!
