AARP Kansas is pleased to participate in this year's Financial Freedom Expo and Summit which will be held on Saturday, April 18 in Wichita. The theme for this year’s Expo is “Get Your Money Right”! The Financial Freedom Expo is an official event of Money Smart Kansas, an annual outreach initiative designed to promote and encourage financial awareness for all ages through classes, workshops and the delivery of various resources. The event is free and open to the public.
Workshops at the Expo include topics such as "Learn the Con-Artist's Playbook" with AARP's Rosa Maymi; Estate Planning Basics with Don Grant, Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Wichita; Starting a Business, with the Small Business Administration; Homeownership 101 with Habitat for Humanity's Kevin Andres; What You Need to Know About Social Security, with Penny Emmele of the Social Security Administration; Increase Your Credit Score, with Cynthia Ongeche of Consumer Credit Counseling; Financing Your College Education with Demetria Wilson of the Kansas Treasurer's Office; Financial Planning for Women with Sue Tirukonda, CFP, of the Financial Planning Association; and a session on Better Money Habits.
After the workshops, participants are encouraged to stay for a free lunch and to hear from the NAACP National Director of Fair Lending and Inclusion Charles R. Lowery Jr. and keynote presenter HOTEP, from hustleunitversity.org. He will present on the topic “Hustle and Grow Rich.” Hotep, an Atlanta-based speaker, is the author of several popular empowerment books including the phenomenal classic; The Hustler’s 10 Commandments
The Financial Freedom Expo and Summit takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Urban Preparatory Academy at 2821 East 24 th St. N., 67219 (Estelle & 24 th St.).
