Congratulations to Judy Bellome of Lawrence on her selection to participate in AARP’s Volunteer Leadership Institute or VLI, a rigorous and innovative year-long training program designed to elevate highly skilled and motivated AARP volunteers to the next level of volunteer leadership.  Bellome will be joined by 33 other exceptional AARP volunteers from across the country, who will meet both in person and virtually throughout the year to build their leadership strengths in one of three chosen “tracks” – advocacy, community outreach or external representation.

“VLI is an investment in our volunteers – providing resources and opportunities for innovation to take volunteers with proven leadership ability to a new level.  I know of no other organization that has created this type of volunteer development experience,” said AARP Executive Vice President Nancy LeaMond.

“We are very fortunate to have Judy on our volunteer team and extremely excited that she has been chosen to participate in VLI,” said AARP Kansas Director Maren Turner.  “She brings to us not only a vast amount of experience in the healthcare field, but also her leadership and organizational abilities.”

“I am truly honored to be selected for this program and I look forward to being able to share what I’ve learned and to inspire other volunteers and AARP members to pursue their dreams,” said Bellome.

Bellome is a member of the AARP Kansas Executive Council and Chair of the Capitol City Task Force, a group of Topeka-area AARP volunteers who work on legislative issues.
