Calling Volunteers: Help Monitor Fraud, Teach Driver Safety, Serve Veterans in Louisiana

Team of diverse food bank volunteers receive donations

AARP Louisiana is looking for volunteers to help advocate for and run a range of programs, including community events, workshops and seminars.

There are multiple ways to work on behalf of the 50-plus community. You can help Louisiana residents join the AARP Fraud Watch Network, which helps people spot and avoid scams; teach AARP Driver Safety, including in foreign languages; or be a community service volunteer, meeting with local groups to present AARP information.

Training is provided, but some volunteer opportunities have prerequisites. For example,

volunteers for the Veterans Council, which develops guidance on veterans’ issues, must have served in the U.S. armed forces or reserves.

For information, contact Daphney Young (504-485-2162, dyoung@aarp.org).
