Here's How to Make Sure Your Car Fits You

CarFit (2)

Older drivers tend to be safe drivers. They are more likely to wear seat belts and less likely to drive drunk. But is your car safe for you?

AARP Louisiana, in cooperation with AAA and the American Occupational Therapy Association, is offering CarFit checkups in New Orleans on Saturday, April 21. Using a 12-point checklist, volunteer technicians make sure each driver’s car is adjusted properly to accommodate the person’s height, vision and flexibility—characteristics that may change with age.

The free sessions take about 20 minutes and include such things as checking the position of the driver’s seat, the drivers’ ability to reach the pedals and adjusting mirrors.

CarFit sessions will be from 1 to 5 p.m. in the parking lot at the AARP Community Resource Center, 3502 S. Carrollton Ave. To reserve a spot, go to aarp.cvent.com/NOLACarFitApr21.
