Orlisa Johnson Named Andrus Award Winner

Andrus Award

Shreveport’s Orlisa Johnson was named 2023’s recipient of the AARP Louisiana Andrus Award for Community Service, the highest state volunteer recognition.

Johnson, 62, regularly prepares home-cooked meals for older adults, supports women veterans and volunteers at a senior center.

A former teacher and Air Force reservist, she also helps families of homeless veterans and is a Girl Scout troop leader.

AARP donated $1,000 to the nonprofit Women Veterans of the Ark-La-Tex in honor of Johnson.
