Honoring the Legacy of Dr. King With a Day of Service

Life's most persisent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

MLK 1

In honor of Dr. King's legacy, AARP Maryland volunteers are working with Montgomery County for their 2020 MLK Day of Service. Join us!

On January 20, we'll be in North Bethesda from 1-3 pm, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, 5701 Marinelli Road.

We invite you to be one of the many Americans across the country who will celebrate the national holiday honoring the life and work of Dr. King by doing service in the community. The family-friendly free public event will feature:

  • Service Projects: Participants will be able to choose from a great variety of projects benefiting organizations that serve a variety of community needs including decorating cards, packaging food, constructing fleece blankets, and assembling "Snow Day" boxes.
  • Volunteer Fair: Representatives from multiple nonprofits and government agencies will have representatives on hand to discuss their organizations’ missions and year-round volunteer opportunities.

If you would like to sign up to participate in the event as an attendee, please sign up individually (or sign up as an AARP group) here: https://montgomerycountymd.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=475003.

If you would like to sign up as event staff, please sign up under the AARP Maryland group here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/montgomery-countys-2020-mlk-day-of-service-registration-80177494043?team_token=2496673-80644
