Despite the 40 million family caregivers nationwide, it is still easy for caregivers to feel alone and not know where to turn to for help or resources. AARP Massachusetts recognizes that family caregivers are an essential part of both the healthcare system and the Bay State community as a whole. As such, this Autumn of 2022- AARP MA is hosting a caregiving event series to provide Bay State family caregivers with information, resources, and peer-to-peer networking.

Universal Design Features for Your Lifelong Home

AARP surveys consistently find that older adults want to remain in their current homes and communities for as long as possible. Yet barely one percent of the nation’s housing supply contains any “universal design” elements — such as single story living or a sink that can be reached from a wheelchair. That’s where AARP HomeFit comes in. Based on the free AARP HomeFit Guide, this presentation can help individuals and families make their current or future residence – or that of a loved one – their “lifelong home.”

Making Cents of Caregiving Costs

Get the most out of AARP’s Financial Workbook for Family Caregivers. In this informative and educational session, you will be introduced to essential information caregivers need to more easily manage some of the complexities of caregiving.  Over the course of the presentation, the workbook will be reviewed, you will learn how to incorporate financial tips into your caregiving, and additional resources will be provided. By the end of the session, we hope you have the confidence to make your own plans, as well as a better understanding of how to plan for your care recipient.
