AARP Michigan is working on the “Menopause: It’s a Movement!” campaign, led by the Michigan Women’s Commission. Since March, women from across the state have attended panels in which menopause experts seek to help them better advocate for their midlife health. Their stories — and potential policy changes — will be included in a March 2026 report detailing possible next steps.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, by 2034 the nation will have more people age 65 or older than under 18. By 2060, nearly 1 in 4 people in the United States will be at least 65 years old. Those aren't just fun facts. They are a wake-up call for communities to start planning for a future where aging well is the norm, not the exception.

WASHINGTON, DC—AARP has sent a letter to the U.S. Senate expressing concerns about tens of billions of dollars in potential cuts to Medicare next year alone, as well as potential tax increases or little or no tax relief for older Americans. AARP Michigan's flash mob event with a "disrupt aging" theme has reached an impressive milestone.
LANSING, MI —AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, is seeking volunteer tax-preparers in the Lansing area to help residents who need help preparing and filing their 2017 returns.
Gladys Pearson has fed families. She has organized women’s workshops and helped to promote breast cancer awareness. The West Bloomfield woman has led drives to provide backpacks and prom dresses for students, and has sponsored character-building workshops for young people.
