Event to Focus on Health, Wealth Issues for Older Black Women in Michigan

Senior black women embracing

AARP will host a virtual event on Wednesday, Aug. 25, featuring women in elected office at the state and federal levels talking about health and wealth topics.

The presentation, “MI Sisters and Friends,” will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is a follow-up to a similar event last year that focused on advocating for older Black women.

Topics included lowering the cost of lifesaving medications for diabetes and other conditions and fostering the development of Black women–owned businesses.

This year’s virtual event will provide an update on the progress that is being made and the work that still needs to be done. To register, go to aarp.org/mi and click on Events.

A recording will also be available on AARP Michigan’s YouTube page.
