Michigan voters will elect a new governor this year. Gov. Rick Snyder (R) can’t run due to term limits, and a crowded field in both major parties is vying to replace him in the primary elections on Tuesday, Aug. 7, and the general election, Tuesday, Nov. 6.
AARP is asking candidates their positions on issues of concern to Michiganders 50 and older. The questions focus on preserving the Healthy Michigan program, which provides health care to 660,000 Michiganders, and making communities more livable by improving access to transportation, housing, grocery stores and other services.
Videos of candidates discussing their positions on these issues will be posted at facebook.com/aarp.michigan.
AARP is encouraging members to attend candidate forums and ask about issues that are important to them. To get involved, email Sue Tumosa at stumosa@aarp.org or call her at 517-267-8920.
