AARP Michigan is pushing this year for legislation to create a state-facilitated retirement savings program for Michigan’s private-sector workers.
About 8 in 10 Michigan small business owners agree that being able to offer a retirement plan helps attract and retain employees, an AARP survey shows. But only about 40 percent offer one to their workers.
The poll of more than 500 small business owners with one to 150 employees was conducted last spring. It found that 73 percent of owners would support legislation to create a state-facilitated retirement savings option.
