AARP is helping to foster livable communities, awarding nearly $1.6 million in Community Challenge grants for quick-action projects nationwide, including three in the Magnolia State.
The city of Gulfport was awarded a grant for a safe-weather pavilion and benches at a new bike-trail system in Brickyard Bayou Park.
The city of Jackson received its award to improve public safety with better pedestrian access downtown. The city will design a parklet with a large mural backdrop.
And Keep Starkville Beautiful will use its grant to repair a busy transportation corridor, with the goal of improving pedestrian safety and the overall experience along this route. Learn more at aarp.org/livable.
