AARP Mississippi State President’s Message

Mrs. Bettye Taylor                                                AARP Mississippi State President

As we start a new year, it's only natural to reflect on all that we accomplished in 2016, and turn our attention to what we hope to accomplish in 2017.

George R. Bach said, "Caring has the gift of making the ordinary special." To you, our volunteers, AARP Mississippi realizes this personifies you. We appreciate the significant contributions you made in helping us succeed in our 2016 endeavors- making life better for the 50+ population and their families.

Thank you for your past service and for continuing to volunteer in 2017.

We are at the Mississippi State Capitol through April working on behalf of the 50+ population and their families. Your presence and engagement are needed. Our voice will need to be collective and strong. We cannot do it alone! As we forge forward together, we are sure to accomplish our goals.

All across the world millions of people are in need of help from others. Mahatma Ghandi said it well in the following quote, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." Volunteers can be that change by helping AARP Mississippi work on Caregiving, AARP Fraud Watch Network and Financial Security. Spend some time reflecting on these issues; decide which area interests you; and let the staff know.

Remember to follow AARP Mississippi on its website (, Facebook ( and Twitter (; be sure to follow the staff also.

The AARP Mississippi team is here for you. Team members are accessible to you and want to hear from you.

Once again, we add our sincerest thanks to you for all that you do, and look forward to your participation in some of the planned activities for 2017.
