The overhaul of several public transit stops in Greater St. Louis — partially funded by AARP — has helped leverage millions of additional investment dollars in everything from new and renovated buildings to sidewalks and landscaping.
The Boomers and Bikes program is one of a variety of activities AARP is offering this year to help older Missourians focus on their health and well-being as well as guided hikes, walking programs and online fitness classes.
Fifty AARP members participated in the St. Louis Senior Olympics as part of Team AARP Memorial Day weekend. All told, Team AARP athletes competed in over 100 different events – everything from Washer Toss to Golf to Pickleball.

The program, which began two years ago, has not been repeated, but some members of the walking group in Kansas City, including AARP volunteer Joyce Guess, are still walking and talking.

Join AARP in St. Louis at the 2015 St. Louis Senior Olympics May 21 st – 26 th and cheer on Team AARP! This group of athletes will have the opportunity to compete in over 90 different individual and team events throughout the St. Louis region. Like to get your hands dirty? Need a little ‘soil therapy'? AARP would like to share information about a volunteer opportunity for those of us who like to dig in the dirt from Gateway Greening. The Great Perennial Divide is St. Louis' largest gardening volunteer event involving more than 75 gardens across the metro area.
The AARP St. Louis booth at the St Louis Home & Garden show was a hit! We had over 2200 people visit our booth over the four days of the show despite the snowy weather on Saturday and Sunday! Visitors were treated to an oven stick, a jar opener and the amazing newly revised AARP Home Fit Guide. They were also treated to home modification information and demonstrations by Rebuilding Together – St. Louis.
