AARP Missouri is sponsoring a conference called Family Caregiving: An Act of Love in Piedmont on June 15. The event aims to connect family caregivers with helpful community resources and give them an opportunity to meet and talk with other caregivers.
About 792,000 Missourians help aging parents, spouses and other loved ones continue to live at home, providing unpaid services worth about $8.5 billion annually.
“Caring for a loved one can be a tough but rewarding job,” said Diane Hall, AARP associate state director for community outreach. “But there is a community of support in our state that can make the tough job a bit easier.”
The free conference will be at Piedmont’s Trinity United Methodist Church from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch is included, and registration is required by June 13. Call 573-223-2240 for details.
