Signing up for the AARP Action Network is your ticket to staying informed and making a difference on issues of importance to the 50-plus.
The Montana State legislature convenes for only 90 days every two years. With the start of the 2019 session, AARP Montana is encouraging participation in the legislative process by inviting the public to sign up for the AARP Action Network.
AARP Montana will call upon the state’s lawmakers in the 2019 legislative session to tackle the key concerns of older Montanans and their families and communities. Highest priorities on the list are supporting measures to help caregivers, strengthening guardianship measures, protecting and strengthening retirement incomes and protecting Medicaid expansion and existing senior services that allow older Montanans to stay in their homes and communities as they age.
Now more than ever, older Montanans need to make their voices heard by their elected officials.
Throughout the session, AARP Montana will send out legislative updates to those who signed up for the AARP Action Network to keep them informed on issues of importance. Additionally, Action Alerts will be issued when Montanans need to “make their voices heard” on key pieces of legislation.
After being inundated with phone calls and e-mails, legislators will have a greater understanding of the issues that are of key importance to Boomers as well as older Montanans.
"An overwhelming response from AARP members about measures that are important to the 50+ population will deliver a loud and clear message to our elected officials,” said Tim Summers, AARP Montana State Director. “It sends the message that Boomers and older Montanans are active, engaged and are paying attention to these issues that are of great importance to all those who live in Big Sky Country. You don't need to be an AARP member to join."
AARP Montana e-activists will be part of a powerful network that connects them to political and legislative programs, activities and initiatives in the state. Montanans are encouraged to sign up online to become an e-activist at www.aarp.org/getinvolved.
