Some of the most powerful stories come from those who have served in the U.S. armed forces. Across the state, more than 85,480 veterans and another 8,900 active, reserve and civilian military members live in Montana, according to the Census Bureau. That is a huge population of local heroes worth honoring and celebrating!

Lee Montana news organizations created the Stories of Honor series that features profiles of veterans and military members from across the state to inform readers about the service and bravery of the heroes who have served, or are currently serving, our country.

AARP Montana is pleased to sponsor the Stories of Honor newspaper series in partnership with the Helena Independent Record, the Montana Standard, The Billings Gazette and The Missoulian. From Memorial Day through Veterans Day, a different story will be featured in each market each week – a total of approximately 104 different Stories of Honor will be featured over the course of the year!

We are proud of the service men and women in our communities across Montana and look forward to featuring their stories in 2021 with this partnership with Lee Newspapers.

Recognize the service, bravery and sacrifice of the many heroes who served our country by helping to tell their story!

Help us salute our heroes! Nominate a Veteran or active service member today!
