In addition to sponsoring the Silver City Blues Festival, AARP New Mexico will be conducting several other fun and exciting events in the Silver City area Memorial Day weekend.
On Thursday evening, May 25 th, family caregivers will have an opportunity to relax, share their caregiving experiences with other caregivers as well as learn about available resources. This special event is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Buckhorn Opera House, 32 Main Street, in Pinos Altos.
Then on Friday, May 26 th, join AARP New Mexico at the Besse-Forward Global Resource Center, ABC Room, on West 12 th Street, Silver City, for a series of workshops:
From 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. join us for a discussion on Disrupting Aging and how we can change the future of aging by challenging outdated beliefs about what it means to age so we can all choose how we live as we get older.
Then stick around, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to learn how to protect yourself and your family from con artists and scammers with resources provided by the AARP Fraud Watch Network.
All the above events are free and open to the public but space is limited so please, RSVP by calling 1-877- 926-8300. Walk-ins are welcome but space is not guaranteed.
You can also take the time Friday to freshen your driving skills with this special presentation of the AARP Driver Safety Course, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the same location. This course is for age 50 and above. Upon completion you may receive a multi-year discount on your car insurance. The course is $15 for AARP members; $20 for non-members.
