AARP visiting scholar and innovative geriatrician Bill Thomas, M.D., will be the keynote speaker at the 38th annual New Mexico Conference on Aging. His address on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 8:30 a.m., will encourage the audience to reframe their thinking about and transform their experience of aging. His remarks will mirror the message in AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins’ book Disrupt Aging. He also will lead a workshop that morning.
“Dr. Thomas is an engaging, dynamic speaker who really connects with the audience,” said Gene Varela, AARP state director. “It will be a fun way to really look at how we view aging and how some of our preconceptions may not be accurate.”
The two-day conference is Aug. 23-24 at the Isleta Hotel and Casino in Isleta Pueblo. For people 55 and older who register online in advance, the cost is $35 for two days or $20 for one day. For more information or to register, click here.
