Commemorate Martin Luther King Day at These Events

As we commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday and honor his inspiring legacy for a just America, AARP Ohio is proud to support the following events in our state.

Living the Dream Awards
January 13, 11 a.m. –1 p.m.
Cintas Center, 1624 Musketeer Drive, Cincinnati 45207

Join AARP Cincinnati for the 5th annual Living the Dream Awards as we honor Cincinnatians O’dell Owens, Chuck Mingo and Iris Roley for living Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s dream in modern times.

The event, taking place at the Cintas Center, will honor Dr. Owens posthumously for his legacy as a pioneer in public health and social equity and as a beloved Cincinnati leader. Mr. Mingo will be honored for his contribution to racial healing, solidarity and justice in Cincinnati through LivingUNDIVIDED. And Ms. Roley for her contribution as a community activist and participating in the Cincinnati Collaborative Agreement, a community-police relations model heralded nationwide.

Empowering the Community to Live Well
January 14, 1 p.m.– 4 p.m.

AARP is pleased to support this family friendly health and resource fair organized by the Cleveland Chapter of Jack and Jill of America. There will be free health screenings, line dancing and movement, informational presentations on mental and physical health, activities for children and community information.

AARP is a proud sponsor of the 38th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Breakfast in Columbus. It's the largest event of its kind honoring the legacy of Dr. King. This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Lawrence Carter, Dean of the Martin Luther King International Chapel at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
