Did you know when a Medicaid recipient, aged 55 years or older passes away, the Medicaid Estate Recovery Program tries to recover from their estate (all property and assets) what Medicaid paid for services provided?

For instance, if you were a Medicaid recipient living in a nursing home or receiving in-home Medicaid, and you pass away, the state attempts to collect what they paid to the private entity for your care.

AARP Ohio is collaborating with nonprofit Pro Seniors Inc. to help you understand Medicaid Estate Recovery. Who does it affect, and when does it happen? What real estate and personal property can the state recover? Can Medicaid Estate Recovery be avoided?

Get answers to these questions and more during this virtual event.

This two-part series is intended to provide information to help older adults, spouses, adult children and heirs make informed estate planning decisions that protect their loved ones' property and assets.

Register to attend this free online webinar on August 13.

Part two continues Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. when AARP Ohio will host a tele-town hall with Pro Seniors, Inc. on Understanding Medicaid Estate Recovery. This event provides another opportunity to ask your questions live. To participate, check out Facebook.com/AARPOH.

Both events are FREE and open to the public.
