AARP Eye Center
Being stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic doesn’t necessarily mean having to be sedentary.
AARP in Cincinnati is offering free virtual workouts for members and their friends, via Facebook Live, every Tuesday this month, from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
Leading a physically active lifestyle can improve mental fitness, according to the Global Council on Brain Health, a group of doctors, scientists and other top experts. The council, in collaboration with AARP, recommends 150 minutes a week of moderately intense aerobic exercise.
AARP in Cincinnati’s online workouts will include low-impact beginner cardio boxing, on Dec. 15; a full-body workout with no jumping or equipment, on Dec. 22; and a total-body exercise mash-up, on Dec. 29.
Rachelle James, a certified personal trainer, will lead each session on AARP Ohio’s Facebook page, facebook.com/aarpoh. No registration is required; just click on the Live link to join.
The sessions may also be replayed on the Facebook page, including a class with easy, flowing dance movements (held on Dec. 1) and another focused on deep breathing exercises and flexibility stretches for relaxation (on Dec. 8).
No special equipment is needed. Session links can also be found at aarp.org/cincinnati.
