Quarantine has made it especially difficult to eat right and exercise effectively; ordering food online is safe and easy but not always nutritious, and working out at a gym may be putting one’s health at risk. While some restaurants and businesses are open, it’s important to recognize that Ohioans must continue to socially distance as much as possible for everyone’s safety. AARP Ohio has developed two virtual series to help you change up your quarantine diet and workout routine. Read on to learn about how our virtual offerings can contribute to positive lifestyle changes!
AARP Ohio has developed a 4 part virtual series with nationally known nutritionist Kristin Kirkpatrick MS, RDN. The event will take place LIVE on July 21, 28 and August 4, 11 at 12 p.m. Join Kristin as she discusses specific topics that relate to the nutrition and wellness of yourself and your loved ones.
Viewers can enjoy a 2 to 3 minute recorded video of Kristin and may then take part in a LIVE moderated Q&A immediately following the presentation. When you register for the event, you will receive a free handout from Kristin Kirkpatrick that outlines the discussion topics and offers tips on how to prioritize your health and wellness with smart snacks and meals as well as self-care guidance.
We are already two episodes into this virtual series so do not hesitate to register if you are interested. Visit the AARP Ohio Facebook page on August 4 and 11 at 12 p.m. to watch and participate in the last two episodes.
Extensive research shows that exercising regularly benefits the brain; however, it may be hard for one to consistently workout as gyms have now limited hours and implemented significant operational changes. AARP Ohio has created a 3 part virtual workout series that you can participate in from the comfort of your own home. Exercising should not mean putting your health at risk - take part in 3, energizing online sweat sessions with Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) Rachelle James on AARP Ohio’s Facebook page. Enjoy fun cardio sets, full body exercises and dance moves guaranteed to get you smiling.
Rachelle will be holding the workout sessions on our Facebook page on August 4, 11 and 18 at 9 a.m. Be sure to register for this event and consult your physician before participating.
