New law introduces critical state-level consumer protections for Oklahomans.
Oklahoma has enacted the Elder Exploitation and Abuse Act, a groundbreaking law aimed at protecting vulnerable adults from financial, physical, and emotional abuse. Effective November 1, 2025, this legislation empowers victims and their legal representatives to pursue civil claims against abusers, including caretakers. The law allows for the recovery of punitive damages, attorney fees, and court-ordered access to records.

AARP Oklahoma Fraud Watch Network Issue Experts are volunteering their time to help the citizens in your district. The AARP Fraud Watch Network is educating Oklahomans throughout the state about how they can protect themselves and their families from frauds and scams. Con artists don't care how hard you worked - they steal billions of dollars every year from Oklahomans like you and me. That's why the AARP Fraud Watch Network is fighting back and inviting you to FREE Senior Fraud Conferences across the state. These conferences are hosted by the Oklahoma Insurance Department. The Oklahoma legislature is currently considering House Bill 2482 by Representative Pat Ownbey and Senator Frank Simpson that would update state law, creating a nurse licensure compact, to allow nurses to care across state lines. This no-cost, commonsense solution would create opportunities for nurses with licenses in neighboring states to practice in Oklahoma.
