AARP Oklahoma Nursing Home CARE Plan protects nursing home residents
AARP Oklahoma helped pass the most significant reforms in nursing home care in the last 15 years.

The AARP Oklahoma Nursing Home CARE (Creating Accountability, Reform and Excellence) Plan reduces a nursing home’s ability to use dangerous antipsychotic drugs as chemical restraints, creates a new program to ensure every senior is presented with all of their long-term options and ties nursing home reimbursement rates to quality of care. Additionally, the plan increases staffing at nursing homes and increases the monthly personal needs allowances for residents.

New Law Creates Caregiver Advisory Committee
AARP’s National Volunteer President Catherine Alicia Georges serves on the RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council, created by a bipartisan federal law that AARP fought hard to pass. The Council is charged with developing a national strategy to support family caregivers that includes communities, providers, government, and others.
