Duquesne Light has filed a request with the Public Utility Commission (PUC) recently for a 16 percent increase in the rates it charges customers for the delivery of electricity. If approved as filed, the increase could raise a residential customer’s bill by more than 8 percent.
The average monthly bill for residential customers using 600 kilowatt hours could increase by 8.82 percent, with an estimated billing increase from $98.15 to $106.80 per month.
The PUC will investigate Duquesne Light's request and will hold public hearing where consumers will have the opportunity to voice their opinions on the rate increase.
We encourage Duquesne Light customers to learn more about the requested rate increase and to testify at an upcoming hearing:

If you are testifying at an upcoming hearing, here are some tips to help you prepare:
Prepare what you are going to say beforehand. Even though it is not required, you may want to write out your statement, which can be read.
If you have a written statement you would like to give to the judge, please bring additional copies for the court reporter and other participants.
Be prepared to answer question from other parties in the case; they may ask you to clarify something you said.
