Stay Active Without Leaving Your Chair

Get Ready for a New Year of Moving with Milly

The new year is almost here, and there’s no better time to focus on your health and wellness! If you’re looking for an easy and enjoyable way to stay active, AARP Pennsylvania’s popular Moving with Milly class is here to help. This virtual, chair-based exercise program is perfect for building strength, improving balance, and staying connected—all from the comfort of your home.

Here are five ways simple exercises like those in Moving with Milly can help you stay healthy in 2025:

  1. Improve Your Balance: Chair-based exercises are great for strengthening your core and stabilizing muscles, reducing the risk of falls and improving your overall coordination.
  2. Build Strength Safely: Using your body weight or light resistance, these exercises help you maintain and build muscle tone without putting undue stress on your joints.
  3. Boost Your Mood: Physical activity releases endorphins, which can improve your mood and energy levels. Starting your week with Moving with Milly is a fun way to feel great both physically and mentally.
  4. Stay Connected: Exercising in a group—even virtually—creates a sense of community and motivation. With hundreds of participants joining each week, you’ll find encouragement and camaraderie.
  5. Support Your Overall Health: Regular movement helps improve circulation, flexibility, and posture, all of which contribute to a healthier you.

Led by Lehigh Valley volunteer Milly Laible, Moving with Milly combines these benefits into a 45 minute class. The class is easy to follow and accessible to all experience levels.

Start the new year with a routine that’s simple, fun, and good for you. Join Moving with Milly every Monday at 11 a.m. ET. Registration is free and open to all.
