If you’re age 55 or older and you’ve been out of the workforce for some time, you may be eligible for AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), which matches eligible jobseekers with paid training assignments at local nonprofits and public agencies. SCSEP helps participants build the skills they need to transition from unemployment to work.
Pennsylvanian Eileen Cooper found help and support from SCSEP. After a 25-year career in IT, she was part of a mass layoff of nearly 250 people. Months later, she was still struggling to find work until she learned about SCSEP. After participating in the program, she was able to find a full-time IT job.
SCSEP has two Pennsylvania locations:
- Philadelphia: 6705 Old York Rd., Philadelphia, PA
- Lansdale: 51 Medical Campus Dr., Lansdale, PA
To see if you’re eligible for the program you can call the AARP Foundation Work Resources Helpline at 855-850-2525 or learn more here.
