Early Voting is Open in South Carolina

SC State President at Polling Place

South Carolina’s early voting period for the 2025 elections is officially underway, giving voters across the state an opportunity to cast their ballots before Election Day. Early voting is open Monday, October 20 through Friday, October 31 at designated early voting centers in each county.

Voting early provides flexibility and helps reduce wait times on Election Day. It also ensures that unexpected changes in schedule, health, or weather don’t prevent you from making your voice heard. By casting your ballot early, you can avoid the last-minute rush and have peace of mind knowing your vote has been counted.

What’s on the Ballot

This year, South Carolinians will vote to fill four vacancies in the state’s General Assembly:

  • Senate District 12 (Greenville and Spartanburg Counties)
  • House District 21 (Greenville County)
  • House District 88 (Lexington County)
  • House District 98 (Dorchester County)

For District 98, there will be a Primary Runoff on November 4 followed by a Special Election on November 18. These elections will determine new leadership in key communities across the state, and voter turnout will play an important role in shaping South Carolina’s future.

How to Vote Early

To vote early, simply visit an early voting center in your county during the early voting period. You will need to present a valid photo ID, which may include:

  • South Carolina Driver’s License
  • South Carolina DMV ID Card
  • Voter Registration Card with Photo
  • U.S. Passport
  • Federal Military ID

Before you go, be sure to confirm your registration status and check the hours and location of your early voting site.

Plan Your Vote

Taking a few minutes today to make a voting plan ensures that your voice will be heard. Review your sample ballot, know where to vote, and encourage friends and family to take advantage of early voting as well.

Voting is one of the most important ways we can shape our communities. Don’t wait until the last minute—make your plan to vote early today.
