Partnership with Pavilion Brings More Virtual Fare

With the help of a financial sponsorship from AARP in Sioux Falls, the Washington Pavilion is responding creatively to the coronavirus pandemic by expanding virtual opportunities for its guests.

COVID-19 seriously disrupted the Pavilion, a performing arts and science center in downtown Sioux Falls. Big concerts and theatrical performances had to be canceled.

Attendance at museums plunged. The staff had to be cut.

But now, people can remotely enjoy virtual tours of art galleries, scientific demonstrations, educational movies and other family activities at washingtonpavilion.org/education.

“We’re also helping promote the digital content because it’s such a cool resource for people of every age,” said Leah Summit, director of communications for AARP in Sioux Falls.

AARP is a longtime supporter of the Pavilion, and its sponsorship is enabling members and guests to buy discount tickets for a streamed performance of the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker during the holidays.

Members can get a $10 discount on tickets purchased at washingtonpavilion.org/tickets by using the promotion code JOLLY.

The streamed performances can be viewed from 7 p.m. on Dec. 19 through 11 p.m. on Jan. 2.
