Supporting age-friendly communities and promoting brain health are two AARP Tennessee priorities. AARP Community Challenge grants will help meet those goals.

Mental Health America of the MidSouth in Clarksville won a grant to expand the Dementia-Friendly Churches project, which educates caregivers tending to loved ones with dementia.

The city of Jackson received funds to create a smartphone app that provides information on public buses.

And Chattanooga will use its grant money to help older adults master technology to stay connected with family and friends. Internet and smartphone use has grown dramatically among older Americans, but they are not always confident in operating their tech devices.
