AARP is calling on Congress to reject the so-called “age rating” proposal for health insurance. It’s an unfair tax that would increase health care costs for older Americans — and would line the pockets of big insurance companies. AARP is fighting to stop this age tax and prevent insurance companies from unfairly hiking health care costs.
The State Age Rating Flexibility Act (H.R. 708) would significantly weaken the current protections against overcharging people over the age of 50, leaving older Americans on the hook for even higher costs. They can call it whatever they want, but the truth is, it’s an unfair tax on older workers designed to line the pockets of insurance companies.
