AARP Tennessee Mourns The Loss of Former State President

Donna Dean

AARP Tennessee staff and volunteers are saddened to share that we have lost a dear friend, colleague and community leader, former AARP Tennessee State President Donna Dean.

Donna first joined the AARP Tennessee family in 2013 as a member of the state Executive Council. She went on to serve as State President in 2015 and 2016, and her leadership left an indelible mark on all of our hearts. Donna’s wonderful spirit and energy continues to be reflected in the work of AARP throughout the state. In fact, we are fully committed to her mantra “Fun With A Purpose” in all we do.

"Donna was as kind and compassionate as she was strategic and driven to succeed," said Interim State Director Stacy Pennington. "We all loved working with Donna; she made taking on big challenges fun for all of us."

A memorial service will take place Saturday afternoon, August 26th at 3 p.m. CDT at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens in Nashville.  There will be a Celebration of Life reception immediately following the Memorial.  And, it should come as no surprise that her family has requested this to be a happy occasion – a true celebration of the life of Donna Dean!
